<a href="http://kansieo.com">Create a video blog...instantly.</a>

what is there learning rate? do they learn fast?
My beagle learned fast it seemed like every time he did something wrong and I corrected him he got it.

how do they respond well to basic obedience?
My dog learned pretty easily with little treats we cut up and were consistant

do they like other dogs? are they sociable?
My beagle LOVES dogs! We are thinking of getting him a "friend" since he loves to play so much

can they handle dogs barking? (like in basic obedience)
whhhew my dog will not shush if a dog is barking!

do they like other people?
mine does ..beagle are supposed to have a great temperment towards people and pets... they are supposed to be great with kids to

do they get distracted or daze off to something else very easily?
I think beagles are known for this!

what is there attention span?
depends on if its something he likes :)

anyways I think any dog can be great and what you what you just have to give them proper training!have LOTS of TIME and patience!

<a href="http://kansieo.com">dog obedience</a>

Most of the beagles I know have been pretty dumb, honestly. Good-natured, but not very bright! Yorkies, on the other hand, are very intelligent, but stubborn. I would say yes, yorkies learn quickly, when you know how to properly train them. Depending on when you start socializing your puppy, yorkies can love other dogs. Just make sure you take them to the pet store and let them interact with other dogs and people. Beagles don't have the longest attention span... for yorkies, it depends on how interested they are. My yorkies can focus on one thing for HOURS. Say, if you take away one of their toys and put it up. They can sit there and pout for hours until you take it down or find something equally fun. My yorkies will sit with me and watch TV, as well. When my youngest barks, I get out the squirt gun and he stops. The others aren't yappy, so it isn't an issue. When teaching tricks, easy things like sit/stand/lay down/shake, can take 4-6 minutes for them. So, I would say if you want an intelligent dog with an attention span, go for a yorkie!

Beagles are better for hunting or as outside dogs. They are sweet dogs and mean well, but can be yappy and do dumb things. They slobber a lot, as well.

Can't speak for the Yorke's, but as a Beagle breeder I can answer for them.
When you say "easy to train" , well it depends. Not to good at formal obedience, but normally easy to train in their own way.
Most beagle breeders pay close attention to "mouth" (barking) because it is of extreme importance when hunting.
Beagles are one of the most social breeds of dogs and usually get along with other dogs and people.
A Beagle will know everything about anything within two city blocks.
Their attention span is far better than many would suspect, but they are good at "multitasking"

<a href="http://mycaffeinatedcontent.com">Create a video blog</a>

I have a beagle. He just turned 5 months old. He is a very fast learner to the point where he learned that if he just sit with his paws on me when i'm in bed that I'll pick him up, so he doesn't have to jump in bed even though he can and does when I'm not already in it...lol. Buddy learned sit after about 5 tries with treats. I have a year old black lab and Buddy and him get along famously. Buddy has never growled at anyone and wants to greet anyone (he would make a terrible guard dog). My lab is overprotective because he was home during a breakin and chewed his way out of a metal kennel to protect our home, so he barks at every little noise, however this does not seem to phase buddy. However, his attention span is like an ADD child's, if it's something he enjoys...he'll do it forever. But if it appears to be boring to him...10 - 15 minutes is as long as he'll last before he dazes out and has to be re-focused.
My best friend has a yorkie and despite 3 different obedience courses, that dog yaps constantly and is disobedient.
Something you have to consider, however is the fact that while some basic personality traits are known by breed, I would say 80% of a dog's mentality/personality is in how it is trained and the environment it lives in.

<a href="http://kansieo.com">Create a video blog...instantly.</a>

Yorkies are very intelligent and quick learners. They are sociable with other dogs and people, if you start them young. Yorkies can learn a large vocabulary of words, however are difficult to housebreak. Be aware that yorkies are 'high' maintenance dogs requiring alot of attention and grooming.

Beagles are natural barkers. They can be taught basic commands, but their attention spans can be short. Remember, they are a hunting breed and like to run.

Hope this helps.
